GAME BOX SCORE: EVERTON TIGERS VS. SCOTTISH ROCKS
United Kingdom D1 2009-2010

Glasgow Rocks won the mid-table battle with Everton Tigers 84-69 north of the border after an excellent fourth quarter effort saw them home.

Rocks shared their offence with Jessie Sapp, Mike Copeland and Rob Yanders all scoring 21 points – Yanders hit 12 in the final stanza, which proved to be crucial.

The home team also had to do without player-coach Sterling Davis for the second half after the play caller was disqualified from the match late in the second quarter by the officials. Without an assistant coach the Rocks players took over and led themselves to victory.

Earlier in the match the Rocks had opened a 10 point lead in the first quarter (16-6) only to see Tigers whittle it back to 23-21 at the break thanks to three-pointers by Andrew Thomson, Steven Rush and Chris Haslam.

Tigers dominated the second period keeping Rocks at bay with some tough defence. A 9-2 run saw their lead peak at 31-43 before Gareth Murray trimmed the gap to 33-43 at half time.

Without Davis the Rocks dominated the opening part of the third quarter. A 15-0 beginning, with buckets by Copeland, Yanders, Steve Parillon, Sapp and Murray, put them 48-43 up.

The lead switched hands as Tigers began to find their rhythm again but once Copeland put Glasgow in front at 54-53 they never trailed again.

Taking a 58-55 advantage into the fourth quarter the Rocks steadily increased the margin as Everton struggled to get their shots to fall. A Copeland free throw made it a double-digit (74-64) lead with two minutes remaining and from there the home team kept their composure from the foul line to see the job through.
